Biography

Sharon Giles is a qualified diagnostic radiographer with more than 10 years’ experience in magnetic resonance (MR) research projects.

She leads the clinical high intensity focused ultrasound projects at the Institute of Cancer Research and Royal Marsden Hospital, in conjunction with Professors Nandita deSouza and Gail ter Haar.

The first clinical treatments at RMH were to deliver MR-guided HIFU for pain palliation of bone metastases. As part of her PhD project, Sharon is now evaluating the feasibility of using MR-guided HIFU to treat recurrent gynaecological tumours in patients without other treatment options.
