Biography

Associate Professor of Surgery, Nuffield Department of Surgical Sciences, University of Oxford.

Qualified from Bristol University in 1975 worked in Exeter and Bath before moving to Oxford. Special interest  in renal surgery. D.Phil (Oxon) 1986 for kidney transplantation based research.

Since 2001, he has been clinical director of the High Intensity Focused Ultrasound Unit in Oxford which, with colleagues in the UK and China, is researching into a novel way of treating cancer without surgery.

He has co supervised 20 research fellows for higher degrees and elected a governing body Fellow of Green Templeton College in 2006.
