Charles Emery is an experienced Medical Device Innovation & Product Development Executive with deep experience in biotechnology and preclinical testing to develop clinical breakthroughs.  Charles has over 20 years of experience propelling the product portfolio of startups and large companies and has a reputation as a prolific inventor with 29 utility patents and three design patents issued and with 111 patent applications filed.  His abilities span ideation, product creation, and commercialization.

As a seasoned executive, Charles is a trusted consultant, and recognized industry leader in medical technology for multinational companies including Ulthera where he managed medical device programs valued over $1B.  He started as a Principal Systems Engineer at Ulthera in 2011 and was eventually promoted to VP, Product Development and Chief Innovation Officer.  His responsibilities included authoring system requirements, managing design partners, developing the intellectual property portfolio, building technology roadmaps, benchmarking competitive products, and leading Advanced Development and Product Development Teams.

Charles completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis in medical ultrasonic imaging from Duke University.  He also holds a Master of Business Administration in Technology Management from University of Washington where he finished first in class.  Finally, Charles holds two Bachelor of Science Degrees in Electrical Engineering and Physics from Washington University in St. Louis.

Charles is an active member of IEEE and has served as a technical and business consultant to companies such as EndoSound, Crown Aesthetics, Ardian, Covarx Corporation, Atherosys, and AcuImages.
